Short answer: follow the quest chain, and do these six things in order — complete The First Steps, finish one side quest, craft one item, clear one tier-1 deed, kill the monstrous droop, and pick up your first ruined spellbook. Those six are the only achievements sitting at 100.0% completion, which makes them the reliably universal opening.

Why this page is ordered this way

Most beginner guides are written from the author’s memory. This one is ordered by data instead: the official achievement list records what every tracked player has and has not done, and the completion percentages therefore rank actions by how universal they are.

Method Official API

Completion rates come from Steam's GetGlobalAchievementPercentagesForApp endpoint for app 2402680, and the unlock conditions come from the wording on the official Steam achievement page. Counts are matched to achievements by their internal identifiers, not by list position, because the achievement page and the API order tied percentages differently.

The universal opening: six things at 100%

These six achievements are held by every tracked owner. They form the opening sequence, and their official unlock text is a precise description of what to do.

Order Achievement Official unlock condition Completion
1 A New Start Complete The First Steps Quest 100.0%
2 First Favor Complete a side quest 100.0%
3 MacGyvered It Craft an item for the first time 100.0%
4 Cutting Teeth Complete a tiered deed at tier 1 100.0%
5 Blob Slayer Kill the monstrous droop 100.0%
6 Light Reading Find your first ruined spellbook 100.0%

Note what this sequence implies about the game’s structure. Crafting is introduced in the opening, not treated as an advanced system. Deeds — the repeatable, tiered content that becomes the endgame loop — appear at tier 1 during the tutorial. And a ruined spellbook is found as a story beat, which is worth understanding before you decide how to build.

Steps 1–3: the quest chain and your first craft

After The First Steps, the next quest objective is Time Tardy Scout — the achievement for finishing it is named “Help a Lost Elf” and sits at 90.1%. That name is a useful signal: the quest involves an elf, which fits the fact that Elf is one of the three launch races.

Crafting comes in immediately. “MacGyvered It — Craft an item for the first time” is at 100.0%, so the game walks you into it.

Official Crafting design talk, 20 January 2026

“Crafting can be done directly from your backpack, or through dedicated crafting stations. Many recipes require specific stations to craft, so as you build out more stations, you expand what you're capable of producing.”

Recipe discovery works two ways: finding recipes in the world, or placing items into crafting slots and matching a valid combination, which unlocks the recipe permanently so it can be selected from the list afterwards.

Steps 4–5: deeds and your first real fight

A Tiered Deed is the repeatable content system. Completing one at tier 1 grants “Cutting Teeth” at 100.0%, confirming that deeds are surfaced during the opening rather than saved for later.

The first named enemy to plan around is the monstrous droop, killed for the achievement “Blob Slayer.” Because Mudtek has published no health, damage or loot figures for it, this guide makes no claims about its moveset — treat the encounter as a normal telegraphed fight and apply the stamina discipline from the combat system.

Do not look for a droop health bar value anywhere online. Mudtek has not published enemy stats, and every achievement-derived name on this site comes from official unlock text only. Any site quoting exact boss numbers for Dimraeth is producing them from somewhere other than an official source.

Steps 6–10: the first stretch with real drop-off

Past the universal six, completion rates begin to fall, which is where players diverge. The next four milestones mark the end of the guided opening.

Achievement Official unlock condition Completion
Village Hero Complete Village in Crisis Quest 44.7%
Novice Reach Level 5 47.7%
Tinkerer Upgrade a combat item for the first time 46.3%
Tools of the Trade Build your first crafting station 56.2%

Reordered by what to actually do, the sequence is: build a crafting station (56.2%), reach level 5 (47.7%), upgrade a combat item (46.3%), then finish A Village in Crisis (44.7%).

Reaching Level 5 takes roughly half of tracked players no more than the opening. Given that the Early Access level cap is 25, this is a deliberate pacing signal — the first fifth of the level range is meant to go quickly.

Five concrete things to do in your first session

  1. Build a crafting station as soon as the game offers it. At 56.2%, it is the most completed non-universal achievement, and it gates the rest of your production chain.
  2. Upgrade one combat item before you upgrade anything else. That is the “Tinkerer” achievement at 46.3%, and it teaches the FORGE system, which has both an UPGRADE and a SALVAGE tab.
  3. Find and clear side quests early. “Cutting Teeth” proves deeds are available from the start; side quests stack toward “Local Help — Complete 25 side quests.”
  4. Pick up every ruined spellbook you see. The first one is a scripted story moment, and the achievement for it exists because they are collectible.
  5. Do not ignore the achievement tracker. It is the closest thing Dimraeth has to a published progression checklist.

What the drop-off tells you

Look at the shape of the curve. The Level 5 milestone is at 47.7%, Level 10 at 8.8%, Level 15 at 1.4%, Level 20 at 0.2%, and Level 25 at 0.0%. Meanwhile the first Sanctum recruitment (“A New Ally — Recruit your first NPC to the Sanctum”) sits at 20.0%.

Two readings follow, and both are useful for a new player:

  • The early game is generous and the late game is long. The gap between Level 5 and Level 10 is far larger than the gap between 1 and 5.
  • The Sanctum is optional content that most players skip. Recruiting NPCs to your settlement is passed by only one in five players, yet it is the mechanism that unlocks crafted spellbooks.

Note Why recruit NPCs

Mudtek states that as you recruit NPCs into your settlement, some can craft spellbooks for you using materials gathered from monsters and bosses, and that these spells reflect the creature the materials came from.
