Short answer: yes. Mudtek's Early Access content update lists 9 unique pets, each with different abilities. Two achievements track them. The studio has never published a single pet name, so any list you find online is unverifiable.
How many pets are in Dimraeth
The count comes from a single unambiguous official line.
Official Content update, 2 September 2026
“New pets: 9 unique pets with different abilities.”
Source: Mudtek Steam announcement, 2 September 2026 · verified 16 September 2026
Two words in that sentence carry the useful information. Nine is the count, and it matches the achievement naming exactly. Unique signals that the pets are not reskins of one template, and “different abilities” confirms they are mechanically distinct rather than cosmetic companions.
Pets were not part of the September 2025 playtest. At that point Mudtek’s playtest summary listed races, classes, placeholder VFX, building, farming and multiplayer and made no mention of pets. They arrived with the Early Access build.
What pets actually do
Mudtek has said that pets have different abilities. That is the entire official statement. There is no published ability list, no stat table and no indication of whether pets fight, gather, buff or simply accompany you.
This matters because it is the point where most third-party coverage stops being checkable. A page that assigns each pet a damage value or an active skill is filling a gap that Mudtek has left open deliberately — the studio has been explicit about other systems and conspicuously silent here.
Note What is confirmed
Confirmed: nine pets exist, they are described as unique, and their abilities differ.
Not confirmed: names, appearances of the full roster, acquisition method, whether abilities are combat or utility, whether pets level up, and whether pets persist between worlds in co-op.
Checked against: 30 Mudtek announcements, Steam store page, dimraeth.com · 16 September 2026
The one place a pet detail could surface is the co-op persistence question. The store page states that a hero’s level, equipment, inventory, spells and personal progression travel between worlds, while story progress, recruited allies and buildings stay tied to each world. Pets are not named in either list, so whether a pet follows your hero or belongs to the world is genuinely unstated.
The two-pet preview
Three weeks before Early Access, Mudtek showed partial pet art without naming anything.
Official Announcement, 2 July 2026
“Past that we'd like to share you some cool little screenshots of two new pets (and we have quite a few more) that you can expect to see in EA and we're more excited to release details on the variety that they will have both in visuals and in terms of gameplay.”
Source: Mudtek Steam announcement, 2 July 2026
That passage is worth reading carefully for what it confirms and what it does not. It confirms pets vary visually as well as in gameplay. It confirms more than two were planned. It does not name a single one, and the screenshots were posted as announcement attachments rather than to a permanent gallery — so we do not reproduce them here as if they were a verified roster.
We also do not crop those preview images into this page as pet portraits, because we cannot confirm which of the nine each one became. An image captioned with the wrong pet name is exactly the kind of error this site exists to avoid.
How many players unlock pets
Achievement completion rates give the only hard numbers about pets in the wild.
| Milestone | Achievement | Description | Completion |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unlock any pet | Faithful Companion | Unlock a pet | 12.4% |
| Unlock every pet | Nine Lives | Unlock 9 pets | 0.1% |
The shape of those numbers is informative. 12.4% of tracked players have unlocked a single pet, which places pet acquisition roughly in the middle of the achievement curve — after reaching level 5 (47.7%) and harvesting a first crop (30.4%), and only slightly behind recruiting a first NPC to the Sanctum (20.0%).
0.1% have unlocked all nine. That is the same completion rate as defeating Aelwynor, completing 25 side quests and finishing the Crown of Thorns quest, and it is among the lowest figures on the list. Collecting the full nine is endgame-tier dedication, not a casual activity.
The gap between 12.4% and 0.1% also suggests pets are not simply handed out in sequence. If they were a straightforward checklist of nine story rewards, the two figures would sit much closer together. A spread that wide implies either spread-out prerequisites, rare conditions, or a deliberate grind.
Practical read. If you want at least one pet, 12.4% of players got there — it is a normal mid-game goal, not an exotic one. If you want all nine, expect it to be one of the last things you finish. Nothing in the official record tells you where to start.
Why no pet name list exists
Search for a Dimraeth pet list and you will find pages that name nine creatures, often with neat one-line ability descriptions. We checked whether any of those names appear in official material.
Unverified Third-party pet lists
Searching all 30 Mudtek Steam announcements, the Steam store page, the official website pages and the Steam achievement descriptions returns no pet names whatsoever. The studio has stated a count and a design intent and stopped there.
We record this as “no official match found” rather than making any claim about where those lists originated. Some may come from data mining, which can be accurate but is not the same as a published source.
We therefore do not reproduce a named pet roster. When Mudtek publishes one, this page will carry it.

Where pets sit in progression
Pets belong to the collection tier of Dimraeth’s progression rather than the power tier. They are tracked by achievements, they scale with nothing that has been published, and they do not appear in the store page’s description of what a hero carries between worlds.
| System | What it affects | Confirmed status |
|---|---|---|
| Pets | Abilities differ per pet | 9 exist, unnamed |
| Sanctum allies | Facilities, shops, crafting services | Implemented |
| Equipment | Stats and resistances | Implemented |
| Food buffs | Percentage stats, timed | Implemented |
The parallel with Sanctum recruitment is the closest one: both are collections of distinct entities that give your home base more capability. The achievement list treats them as separate tracks — “A New Ally” and “Sanctum Society” for allies, “Faithful Companion” and “Nine Lives” for pets.
For the full achievement curve that these percentages come from, see the achievements page. For the facilities and production structures your pets share a home with, see the base building page.
