Short answer: Dimraeth supports keyboard & mouse, gamepad, and a WASD & mouse hybrid layout — all three are named in the official FAQ. Combat is not a button-masher: every character has a standard dash and a race-specific guard, enemies telegraph their attacks, and dodging, blocking, casting and striking all consume stamina.
What the official sources actually confirm
There is no official manual for Dimraeth yet. What follows is limited to what Mudtek has stated in writing or what can be read directly off official screenshots. Anything Mudtek has not published is marked as unconfirmed rather than filled in from third-party sites.
Official Mudtek statement
The official FAQ answers the input question directly. It answers with a short list, and we reproduce that list as a list rather than compressing it into one quoted sentence:
“Play your way. Dimraeth supports:”
- “Keyboard & Mouse – For those who want precision and speed”
- “Gamepad / Controller – Tuned for comfort and immersion”
- “WASD & Mouse Hybrid – For flexible control”
“Whether you’re at your desk or on the couch, we’ve got you covered.”
The same FAQ states the game launches on PC via Steam with full Steam Deck support, and that no console releases are confirmed.

The combat loop in one paragraph
Mudtek’s July 2025 combat devlog describes combat as being built on three central pillars: defense, attacks, and spells. Every character carries a standard dash and a race-specific guard, and both have their own cooldown. Enemies signal their attacks with readable wind-ups and clear tells, so whether you can react in time decides the fight. Unless you run a heavy-defense build, every hit you take comes at a cost.
Official Development update
From the 18 July 2025 post “The Combat of Dimraeth”: “Whether you can react in time—dashing, guarding, or committing to an attack—often determines the outcome of the fight. … And keep in mind: dodging, blocking, casting, and striking all consume stamina, so you’ll need to manage your choices carefully.”

The same post notes that basic attacks are not filler. Each race has its own combo chain of three to four hits, and those attacks stay useful late in the game even for magic-heavy builds because of on-hit passives and synergies.
Blocking, parrying and dodging
The Steam store page frames the decision as a commitment: “Manage your stamina, read enemy telegraphs, and position yourself before choosing to strike, dodge, block, or parry.” That is the full official statement on defensive options — Mudtek has not published frame data, exact stamina costs, or parry windows, and we do not invent them.
What we do not know: default keybindings, exact stamina costs per action, dash and guard cooldown durations, and whether guard can be cancelled. None of these have been published officially. Treat any site quoting precise numbers for them with suspicion.
Reading the HUD
Two official store screenshots expose parts of the interface, and their text can be read directly. This is the most reliable HUD information available, because it comes from the game itself rather than from a third party.
| Screen element | What it shows | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Top bar (7 items) | CHARACTER · CRAFTING CODEX · QUEST · MAP · SPELL · SOCIAL · SETTINGS | Official store screenshot |
| SPELL sub-tabs | SKILL TREE and SPELLBOOK | Official store screenshot |
| Skill tree header | AVAILABLE POINTS · Spent Points 8 · Respec | Official store screenshot |
| Bottom bar | 8 skill slots along the bottom edge | Official store screenshot |
| Quest tracker | Appears in the upper area with objective text | Official store screenshot |
The seven top-bar entries are the game’s full primary menu set as visible in the current build. That matters for navigation: there is no separate top-level “inventory” tab — the inventory appears as CARGO inside the base/camp panel.
Movement and traversal
The dash is the base movement tool and every character has it. Beyond that, Mudtek has not published a sprint, climb, swim or fast-travel key. Fast travel does exist in the form of a Waypoint, which is confirmed by the achievement “Wayfarer's Gate — Build a Waypoint.”
That achievement name is worth pausing on: Waypoints are built, not merely unlocked. It implies base-building and traversal are connected, which is consistent with the store page describing structures you construct for a steady supply of materials.
Playing with a group
If you are asking how to play because you want to bring friends, the official FAQ covers the hosting model: Dimraeth uses peer-to-peer co-op, with one player acting as host, and there are no dedicated or private servers. Local and split-screen multiplayer are also absent — co-op is online only.
Note Party size
The store page advertises seamless drop-in/drop-out co-op for up to eight players. Mudtek's own playtest summary recommends 1–4 players for the best experience while confirming up to 8 works. Both statements are official; they differ in emphasis, not in fact.

Practical first-hour advice
None of the following is invented advice about hidden mechanics — each item follows from something Mudtek has stated or from achievement data showing what players actually do first.
- Do not treat stamina as free. Casting, blocking, dodging and striking all draw from the same pool. The devlog is explicit that this is the core tension.
- Use the dash to reposition, not to travel. Dash has its own cooldown and is part of the defensive toolkit alongside guard.
- Pick a race and class whose default playstyle you actually enjoy. Race is described as your base kit, not cosmetic flavor: a Minotaur is always a heavy frontline presence even in a ranged class.
- Build your first crafting station early. The achievement “Tools of the Trade — Build your first crafting station” sits at 56.2% completion, meaning nearly half of owners had not done it yet at the time of capture.
- Read your quest tracker, not a wiki map. The objective text is right there in the HUD.
Frequently asked questions
The answers above cover the common cases. Two further points come up often enough to state directly.
- Is there a tutorial? The First Steps quest functions as the opening sequence — the achievement “A New Start — Complete The First Steps Quest” sits at 100.0% completion, the only quest achievement every tracked owner has.
- Can I play solo? Yes. The official FAQ states Dimraeth “can be played solo from start to finish.”
Controls, HUD layout and default bindings can change between Early Access builds. This page was verified against the build live on 16 September 2026. If a menu has moved or a binding has changed, the official patch notes on Steam are the authority.
