Short answer: three classes are live — Brawler (close-combat, feral techniques, grappling), Magician (elemental magic blended with weapon strikes), and Shadow (announced as the new launch class, no official description published). The store page's six-class figure is the 1.0 target.

The launch roster

Mudtek’s release announcement settles the question in one line: “3 races and classes (Elf, Minotaur and Human) and (Shadow, Mage, and Brawler).” That is the complete set of playable classes at Early Access.

Official Launch roster

Mudtek's 2 September 2026 content update listed “New Class: The shadow” among the Early Access additions, and the 15 September release announcement confirmed Shadow alongside Mage and Brawler as the three launch classes.

Brawler — the close-combat specialist

The official website’s class section carries the only published description of the Brawler, and it is specific about how the class plays.

Official description dimraeth.com

“The Brawler is a close-combat specialist who combines weapon strikes with feral, instinctive techniques, excelling in grappling, swift attacks, and unpredictable movements. Lightly armored and agile, they rely on relentless stamina and cunning to overwhelm foes in chaotic, melee encounters.”

Three details in that paragraph are worth extracting, because they are official commitments rather than flavor text:

  • Grappling is a named mechanic. The Brawler is the only class Mudtek associates with grappling. How it interacts with the universal dash-and-guard system is not documented.
  • Stamina is framed as the resource that carries the class. “Relentless stamina” suggests the Brawler is designed to sustain pressure rather than burst. Given that dodging, blocking, casting and striking all consume stamina, that is a meaningful design statement.
  • Light armor is explicit. The class trades protection for mobility, which matters against the telegraphed enemy attacks described in the combat devlog.

Magician — elemental magic fused with weapon work

The Magician’s official description is also full, and it answers a question players ask often: is the Magician a pure caster?

Official description dimraeth.com

“The Magician wields elemental magic to enhance their combat skills, seamlessly blending spells with weapon strikes to control the battlefield. With the ability to summon fire, ice, or lightning, they adapt their tactics to exploit enemy weaknesses, striking with both arcane power and martial precision.”

The Magician is therefore a hybrid, not a backline caster. “Martial precision” and “weapon strikes” both appear in the official text, and the fire/ice/lightning triad maps directly onto the status-effect interactions Mudtek describes elsewhere: igniting enemies and following with an inferno, layering frost and then freezing an enemy in place.

Note Magician vs Mage

Official sources use two spellings for the same launch class. The website's class section is headed Magician; the release announcement writes Mage. Mudtek's design posts also use “Magician” when naming example archetypes such as Fairy Magician. We treat them as one class and keep both spellings visible so you can match whichever source you are reading.

Shadow — the class with no published description

Shadow is the launch class with the least public information. It appears in the Early Access feature list and in the release announcement, and that is the entire official record.

Not published No official description

Mudtek has released no description of the Shadow's playstyle, its mechanics, or its example archetypes. The name appears in the launch roster and nowhere else in the official material we checked, which includes all 30 Steam announcements, the store page and the official website.

We could describe what a class called “Shadow” usually does in this genre. That would be invention. Instead: the class exists, it is playable, and its stated identity has not been published.

If you want the Shadow’s design intent before committing to it, the official Discord and the Steam discussions are where Mudtek responds. That is also where the studio asked players to post build discussion.

How class and race combine

The single most important thing to understand about classes is that they do not stand alone. Mudtek’s November 2025 design post explains the relationship.

Official Design post, 16 November 2025

“In combat, your race isn't just flavor, it's your base kit. A Minotaur will always be a heavy, axe-wielding frontline presence, even if you lean into a more ranged class; a Fairy will always fight as a staff-wielding caster, even if you choose Brawler. The combination of race and class is what decides whether you're dashing into the thick of it, kiting at the edge of the fight, or setting up control from the back line.”

Source: Mudtek Steam announcement, 16 November 2025 · verified 16 September 2026

That statement resolves a common expectation. Choosing a ranged class does not turn a Minotaur into a ranged character. Your race sets the physical baseline; your class sets the toolkit layered onto it. The result is that the race decision is at least as consequential as the class decision — a reversal of how most action RPGs work.

The same post adds that your race and class together determine how your attributes scale: the XP cost of each attribute is primarily set by your race–class combination, so pushing into an off-stat is measurably more expensive for some pairings than others.

What the store page’s six classes means

The store page states: “Combine any of eight races with any of six classes to create 48 distinct Archetypes. Each pairing has its own skill tree and playstyle.”

That is the 1.0 target. At Early Access there are three of each, which produces nine archetypes. The system described — a unique skill tree per pairing — is already live; only the roster is smaller.

A note on third-party class lists. Several Dimraeth pages currently list a Bard class among the launch options. Searching Mudtek's 30 Steam announcements and the full store page returns no mention of Bard at all. If a class list includes Bard, that list is not drawn from official material.
